Wedding thank you notes should be sent as soon as possible after the wedding and even before the wedding if gifts are received. Although many etiquette books say to send wedding thank you notes within two weeks after the wedding, this is not always possible, especially when you are on your honeymoon. It is never too late send wedding thank you notes. Try to send them with in a month if possible.

All wedding thank you notes should be hand written. Each wedding thank you note should mention the wedding gift and how it will be used, such as "I will enjoy making toast in my beautiful new toaster" or "we will use your very generous wedding gift towards new furniture for our new home" Sign both the bride and groom's names.

Many couples have their new names printed on the front of the wedding thank you note, such as "Mr and Mrs John Doe" or Mary And John Doe", or have it monogrammed, but a hand written wedding thank you is essential.

A monogram on a wedding thank you note is a very nice way to personalize the item. See sample:

The "D" goes in the center, usually in large font, "M" to the left and "J" to the right.

The thank you note is written on the inside. Order plenty of extra thank you notes - they can be used for other purposes after you are married - to say thank you to someone who invited you to dinner or as a personal thank you note for any purpose.

Wedding thank you notes are usually ordered at the same time as the wedding invitations. This way, they can match the invitation ensemble, and you usually save money when ordering everything all at once.

Wedding thank you notes should not be pre-printed, but always need to be hand written.

Don't forget to send a wedding thank you note to your florist. If possible send him or her photos of the flowers, especially photos of the bouquets.
